The EYFS Framework

Building on Nursery foundations

Early Years continues the EYFS framework with more structured daily routines, introducing early phonics and number work while keeping play at the centre of learning.

💬 Communication & Language

Expanding vocabulary and sentence structure through group discussions, storytelling, and guided conversation.

🔤 Early Literacy & Phonics

Introduction to letter sounds (Phase 1 phonics), name writing, and a growing love of books through daily story time.

🔢 Early Mathematics

Counting to 10 and beyond, recognising numerals, comparing quantities, and exploring simple patterns and shapes.

🤝 Personal, Social & Emotional Development

Turn-taking, sharing, and expressing feelings appropriately — building the social skills needed for Reception.

🏃 Physical Development

Refining coordination and control through outdoor play, ball games, and pencil-grip practice.

🌍 Understanding the World & 🎨 Expressive Arts

Continued exploration of nature, technology, and culture, alongside music, art, and role play.
